Senate

Contrary to its name, the Senate is not just made up of wise old men, but is made up of members of the professors, students and employees of the university. We students are allowed to occupy up to three seats.
However, there are also advisory members in the HSZG Senate who are not allowed to vote, but have special rights in the case of the Rector, such as a decision in the event of a tie. The advisory members include the deans of the individual faculties, the Rectorate, the Equal Opportunities Officer and the Staff Council.

As the largest interest group at the university, we students are unfortunately in the minority. This makes it all the more important that motivated students represent us in the Senate and speak out when student interests are ignored!
These student representatives are particularly important when it comes to decisions on the organization of studies. This also requires a majority vote of the student senate members present and entitled to vote or 2/3 of the senate.

But what is actually decided in the Senate?

Basically, the Senate deals with matters of study, research or art that affect more than just one faculty, the promotion of young talent, fundamental questions about the organization of university operations and where the journey is heading.

Specifically, the Senate voted on the retention or rejection of free trials during Corona, for example. The Senate is currently focusing on the appointment of a committee that will take stock of the entire HSZG and then plan the further development of the university.
