The remit of the Mobility Department covers all matters relating to student mobility in the Görlitz and Zittau university areas. It is particularly concerned with sustainable forms of mobility, such as cycling, walking and public transport.
The central task is the administration of a jointly financed local transport ticket for students, e.g. in the form of a semester ticket. This includes "marketing" and providing information about the ticket, maintaining personal contact with the contractual partners involved, other student representatives and the university administration departments involved, as well as conducting contract negotiations to keep the price as low and socially acceptable as possible. The department is also the point of contact for any problems with the transport companies involved. The tasks involved in administering the ticket include refunds and initiating any necessary changes to the regulations.
The department develops suggestions for improvement and new ideas for the design and scope of the student ticket and alternative forms of mobility and puts these up for discussion.
